At MAJ, we are always looking for more volunteers, as well as your input and expertise. We need your help recruiting new members, writing articles, reading bills during the legislative session, planning CLE's and much more. Let us know what you're interested in doing, and we'll get you involved.

10 Ways to Get Involved

1. Join the List Server - Looking for a form? Wonder what trial attorneys across the state think about your pressing legal issue? Have a question about an expert? Instantly communicate via e-mail with trial lawyers across the state through the MAJ List Server, MAJ's most popular service. MAJ's list server allows members to exchange ideas and gather information from your colleagues through a secure online environment. Postings of MAJ sponsored events and activities can also be found on the list server allowing all members to be in the loop of what's going on in MAJ. Contact DeAnna Burrell to sign-up today!

2. Submit an Article - MAJ publishes an annual, printed magazine, Voir Dire. The annual publication features legal articles, news about the association, and information on upcoming events. Write an article and share your knowledge with your colleagues. Contact DeAnna Burrell at the MAJ office for deadlines and more information.

3. Register for a Seminar - MAJ sponsors several seminars through the year on everything from auto litigation to criminal law. Speakers include nationally renowned experts, judges, and some of the top trial attorneys in the state and nation. MAJ members also enjoy CLE discounts at seminars. Upcoming seminars and online registration are available on the website by clicking here.

4. Recruit a New Member - Know someone who works to promote the civil justice system just as hard as you? Recruit them to join the organization. Information about the association is always available online. Click here for a downloadable membership brochure and application.

5. Attend a Legislative Function - MAJ hosts several legislative functions in the spring, including a MAJ Lobby Day at the Capitol. Come to Jackson, meet your legislator, and learn what we're doing to protect the rights of Mississippians at the Capitol!

6. Volunteer for a Committee - From the Amicus Curiae committee to the membership committee, MAJ has a committee for everyone. Join a committee and spend just a few hours a month improving the work of the association with your fellow lawyers.

7. Connect with Connection Line - MAJ works with a variety of Connection Line Sponsors to give our members competitive discounts of products such as medical and professional liability insurance. MAJ enjoys the support of loyal vendors who understands the special need of plaintiff's attorneys and their offices. Our sponsors make sure you and your clients get great service at the best prices around. Visit the list of sponsors on the website and see what they have to offer. Remember, when you support our sponsors, you support MAJ.

8. Host a Caucus Reception - Members throughout the state frequently host caucus receptions for the members in their area. The receptions give members an opportunity to network with other attorneys and get to know their neighbors. Talking shop is encouraged!

9. Write a Letter to your Editor - Throughout the year, MAJ becomes involved with media and legislative issues that need all our members support. Writing a letter to your editor about these issues help us get the message out and educate the public.

10. Upload Forms, Briefs and Depositions to the Online Databank - We are very proud of our affiliation with TrialSmith -- the host of our web site and the repository of one of the most complete collections of depositions, pleadings, filings and forms for plaintiffs' lawyers in the nation. Your membership in MAJ provides you with the opportunity to access legal documents to fit every need of your clients. Forms and briefs contributed by MAJ members are free for other MAJ members to use and MAJ gets a portion of the proceeds from this program. Click here to get started.
